RESPECT
All library rules can be summed up by this one word.
Respect Humans
Believe it or not, teachers (and librarians) are humans. Your fellow students are also humans. Custodians are humans. People in different countries are all humans. Be considerate and kind to all of these humans in all of the following ways:
Don’t be loud and annoying. That means the library is a comfortable place, but also a quieter place so anyone can come in and relax, read, and do homework.
Don’t leave things on the ground or tables. Pick up after yourself instead of expecting a different human to do it.
Return books to where they belong. If books are put in the wrong place, we can’t easily locate them. If books can't be found, we may as well not own them. Do NOT attempt to re-shelve books yourself. Return a book to a library worker or to the return bin. Do NOT place books on top of shelves.
If you must be loud or annoying, please do it intelligently as demonstrated in the helpful library tutorial shown below.

Note: Almost all librarians like chocolate. And really food of any sort... They probably just don't want YOU eating it in the library.
Respect Materials
You need to treat the library's materials well, or you will pay to replace any damaged books. This means that you probably shouldn't shove a book to the bottom of your locker. Avoid these "common" library mistakes as seen in the following video:

Respect Deadlines
Library books have a 3-week rental period. You may then renew the book for longer if you are not finished. For middle school students, a fine of $.05 a school day will accrue for each school day a book is late. For high school students, the fine is $.10 a day. There is a slot in the circulation desk directly across from you as you enter the library; use this to return your books.
Here's a guide on how to renew your books online.
If you have any fines or overdue books, you will be limited to ONE non-class book.
At the end of each month, any student with an overdue book or fine will be required to work in the library during your lunch period or recess.

Respect Procedures
The library is open from 7:45-3:30. If you come to the library from another class (but not with your teacher), you need to sign in. There will either be a sign-in sheet or sign-in computer on the circulation desk as you walk in (near the book return slot). Please record your name, the class from which you're coming, and the time as you enter. When you leave, record your exit time.
