One Book, One Sullivan
One Book, One Sullivan is a community reading program that began in 2007 at Sullivan Middle School. Each year, the Rebecca Caudill Young Readers’ Book Award Steering Committee releases a list of 20 books geared toward middle school students in the state of Illinois. Schools and other organizations are encouraged to read these books and vote on the award-winner for the year.
At Sullivan, a group of middle school students and staff members read the books from this list in order to pick one for our community reading program. We meet weekly in the summer to discuss the books, debating to find the perfect one. Our mission is to unite the community of Sullivan through literacy.
If you'd like to know more about this program, contact Mrs. McClellan (mcclellana@sullivan.k12.il.us) or Mrs. Ray (rayr@sullivan.k12.il.us).
We take applictions for student participants in April or May before our summer reading starts.
